To get started, each patient must be in mild to moderate withdrawal when they come for their initial visit. This is normally about 12 hours after the last use of opiates (special rules apply for patients with any recent methadone use because it stays in the body so much longer – please make a point of telling us about any and all methadone use). A driver leaves to get your prescription filled while our staff gets you registered, evaluated, and all the necessary paperwork filled out.
When the medication arrives we immediately get our patient started on Suboxone® to alleviate withdrawal symptoms.
We observe your induction process for up to two hours to document improvement. By the time our patients leave on the first day, they can already tell this powerful treatment is working. Patients are feeling more ‘normal’ at this point in care.
Every patient is treated as the individual they are. There is no cookie-cutter approach to addiction treatment in our practice. Many insurance carriers require counseling as a pre-authorization to pay for the prescription. We offer both group and individual therapy at each clinic and will work with you to determine your insurance carriers requirements.
Patients visit our clinic once a month throughout the period of treatment. Our physicians and intake coordinators review each case file, discuss the successes and difficulties patients are experiencing, and help plan continuing recovery. We require a urine drug screen at the time of the physicians visit and a mid-month drug screen and pill count. The patient’s insurance carrier will be billed for the drug screening.
