Robin Peavler, MD
Robin Peavler, MD, loves his job.
Peavler said this at the 2009 opening of SelfRefind’s Barbourville, Kentucky,
“I’ve been practicing medicine for 21 years in the
emergency department, and I’ve saved a lot of lives, but I’m saving a lot more
lives now that I’m treating addiction. I’m not just helping to save the person
with the addiction; I’m helping to save their sons and daughters, and their
grandchildren. I’m helping to save
generations of people. Many of these people are 20 to 45 years old, and if I
can help them overcome their addiction, I can help them get their lives back,
get them back in society, keep them out of jail, and help them get good jobs.
If I can help them overcome their addiction, then their children will have
their mother or father home with them now. They’ll have a better life.”
Peavler is married to SelfRefind physician Rallie McAllister, MD,
MPH. Their family includes sons Chad,
Oakley, and Gatlin; daughter-in-law, Lindsey; granddaughter, Bella, and
grandson, Cam. Dr. Peavler's hobbies and interests
include golf, snow skiing, fishing, and spending time with his family.
